The Henninger centre grinding machines of the ZS 100 series are designed especially for workpieces with small centres and weight up to 100 kg. Due to the high speed of up to 40.000 min-1, centres with a diameter between 0.5 – 58 mm can be processed into perfection.
The micrometre adjustment allows the centre to be deliberately moved to a new position. The centres can be ground both with a stationary or rotating workpiece. The aim, as with all centre grinding machines, is to achieve a round centre of the highest quality.
The workpieces are machined vertically on the ZS 100 series and can weigh up to 100 kg and be 1160 mm long. The maximum clamping range is 100 mm.

How do the centre grindinig machines of the ZS 100 series work?
With the ZS 100 series, the deformed centring holes are reworked after hardening the workpiece. The workpiece is placed on the tailstock and clamped with the vice. It is then ground with a planetary movement.
With pre-ground workpieces, the workpiece can be rotated in the vice with the stationary spindle. This makes the centre aligned with the axis of rotation.
After machining the roundness in the centre corresponds to the roundness of the workpiece. With this method, a very precise run-out is achieved.
For which applications are centre grinding machines of the ZS 100 series used by our customers?
Typical workpieces for the ZS 100 series are shafts, sleeves, bushings, spindles, smallgears, screw drives, hydraulic parts, etc. where high accuracy is required.
Centre grinding with the ZS 100 series is particularly recommended for the production of cutting tools. This includes reamers, taps, PCD tools, roller burnishing tools, smoothing tools, milling cutters, countersinks, honing tools and many other tools.
